What to expect

When our patients first come to us they are usually experiencing discomfort and are anxious to find relief.  Knowing this, our staff is careful to be sensitive to this discomfort.  Some of our patients are not experiencing symptoms, but begin care in an effort to prevent spinal problems and to enjoy good preventive health care.

Forms

You will be asked to complete some "paperwork" so the doctor can make informed inquiries into your condition and so Barbara can file the proper forms with the insurance company to obtain your coverage.

Consultation

You will then be escorted to a consultation room where Dr. Newman or Dr. Byrne will discuss the nature and extent of your condition.

Examination

Neurological, Orthopedic, and Chiropractic test will be done to locate the specific subluxations and to determine if chiropractic care is an appropriate option for your condition.  These tests also provide us with a starting point for monitoring your progress.  If chiropractic care is not suitable for your condition you will be referred to the appropriate health care provider.

X-ray

X-ray may be utilized to further assess the condition if it is determined to be necessary.

Report of Findings

After the doctors have gathered all of the necessary information to determine your needs, they will schedule you for a report of findings.  In the intervening time, the doctors will study and analyze all of the gathered information and prepare recommendations based on your individual needs.  The doctors will try to answer these questions:

What is wrong?  Can you help me?  How long will it take?  How much will it cost?

Treatment program

A personal treatment plan is developed for each patient.  These treatment methods may include spinal manipulation (the chiropractic adjustment), massage therapy, controlled exercise programs, nutritional advice, and lifestyle recommendations.

Progress

Your progress under chiropractic care will be carefully monitored.  The treatment plan will be modified to meet the changing condition.  Communication between you and the doctors is very important, as you are on your road to improved health and vitality.
